So, as we expected, there were no major surprises at Apple's WWDC keynote speech today. There were no new products and not even a hint of them. A low key developer conference is accepted for most companies, but not for Apple, with WWDC likely to have analysts predicting doom and gloom for the brand. However, this event is not about product, but software, so with iOS 8 now out in the wild, you may be wondering if it will be coming to your Apple device.
Cupertino is clearly eager to keep adoption rates soaring, as they did with iOS 7, so the company has done a good job keeping iOS 8 compatible with a number of its devices. Of course, the fact that iOS is a less dramatic update compared to the transition from iOS 6 to iOS 7, this helps iPhones and iPads run it easier.
Unfortunately, some older iOS devices will not be in line to get the iOS 8 update. However, if you have an iPad or an iPhone from the last few years, you will be in luck. The iPhone 4 has been given the chop and any handset that did have iOS 7 will predictably not be getting iOS 8. Mewer iPhones like the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5c will get the update.
If you are still toting an iPod then you will get iOS if your music player happens to be the fifth generation iPod Touch. In terms of iPads, Apple has been generous with the iPad 2, iPad with Retina, iPad Air, iPad Mini, and iPad Mini with Retina Display all set to get iOS 8.
Needless to say anything older than the above mentioned names will miss out on iOS 8 and Apple is essentially pushing those products into obscurity.
